Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Assistant / Warehouse Officer who will be responsible for monitoring and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the shipping department and ensure that all imports and exports are affected in the most cost -effective manner. This role requires a proactive professional who can manage vessel operations, coordinate transportation, minimize costs, and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, customs, and transporters.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Assist in the daily operations of the warehouse including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods.
- Ensure accurate physical verification of all incoming and outgoing commodities.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the warehouse to ensure safe and efficient storage.
- Support the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager in stock arrangement, FIFO/LIFO management, and pest control measures.
Inventory Control
- Help track daily stock movement and update records in warehouse management systems or inventory registers.
- Support periodic stock counts and reconciliation activities.
- Flag any discrepancies, damages, or losses in stock to the supervisor promptly.
Quality and Safety
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain product quality and hygiene standards.
- Monitor the condition of stored goods and escalate issues such as spoilage or infestation.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols, ensuring safe handling and stacking of materials.
Loading & Dispatch Support
- Supervise and assist laborers during the loading and unloading of goods.
- Verify dispatch quantities against delivery orders and prepare supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure timely truck movement and minimize delays.
Qualifications
Education : OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience : 1–3 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably in agro commodities, food, or FMCG sector.
Skills :
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and stock control procedures.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment (weighing scales, forklifts, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel or basic warehouse management systems.
Other Attributes :
- Physically fit and able to work in warehouse environments.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
