Job Description:
The Engineering Technician at Greig Technologies Limited plays a critical role in supporting the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems, especially in maritime environments. This position involves working closely with engineers and technical teams to ensure reliable communication systems and other technical operations on vessels and remote locations. We are open to training candidates with little or no prior experience, as long as they demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and grow in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Setup:
- Assist in the installation and configuration of telecommunications equipment on vessels, ensuring all systems are securely and efficiently set up.
- Handle hardware and software installations, following company protocols and safety standards.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize system layout and functionality on-site.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on telecommunications and IT equipment, diagnosing and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment, ensuring that all repairs meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintain a record of maintenance activities, repairs, and component replacements.
- Testing and Quality Control:
- Conduct system testing to verify the performance of telecommunications equipment and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify and rectify any malfunctions, testing systems post-repair to confirm reliability.
- Provide quality control by conducting regular system checks and preventative maintenance.
- Technical Support:
- Offer on-call technical support to troubleshoot and resolve system issues as they arise.
- Support engineering staff in remote diagnostics, offering guidance and assistance to ensure effective problem-solving.
- Liaise with external vendors when required for equipment servicing or component replacements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document technical procedures, equipment configurations, and repair processes for future reference.
- Prepare regular reports on equipment performance, issues identified, and resolution timelines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations through accurate documentation.
- Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety and compliance regulations while on-site, particularly in maritime environments.
- Participate in safety drills and training as required by Greig Technologies and regulatory bodies.
- Report any potential hazards or compliance issues immediately to supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience is welcome but not required. We provide training for candidates who have little or no experience, as long as they show a strong willingness to learn.
- Skills: Strong troubleshooting abilities, hands-on technical skills, basic networking knowledge, and familiarity with telecommunications equipment.
- Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel to maritime locations and work on-site as needed.
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: ₦100,000.00 – ₦200,000.00 per month
