Shift Manager

Job Description:
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Shift Manager with strong administrative or facility management experience to oversee the day-to-day operations of our fitness studio during assigned shifts. This role leans heavily towards facility coordination, ensuring that the studio is always operational, clean, well-stocked, and prepared to host sessions seamlessly.
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in structured environments, is confident in enforcing facility procedures, and has a proven ability to manage infrastructure, people, and vendor relationships in high-traffic spaces such as fitness studios or hospitality environments open for long hours.
Responsibilities
Including but not limited to the below:
- Maintaining a directory of vendors and contractors, managing relationships with them
- Supervising all facility staff, including cleaner, security personnel, groundskeepers, and gardeners
Reporting
- Submitting daily facilities and incident reports
- Recording all external contractors’ premises visits and services provided
Point person responsible for optimising:
(i) Power :
- Monitoring and increasing efficiency of power usage across PHCN, inverter-battery-solar system and diesel generator
- Providing weekly analyses of power consumption Ensuring accurate completion of the power usage form daily from the security team
- Managing the maintenance schedule and servicing for the diesel generator and solar inverter battery system
- Maintaining records and monitoring hours and servicing of the Big Generator
- Overseeing diesel purchase and usage, and integrity of diesel quality upon purchase using a hydrometer Managing changeover processes, particularly during fitness sessions in the studio
- Monitoring PHCN credits and top-up process
(ii) Water
- Ensuring the functionality of the water treatment system daily for a seamless experience in the changing rooms of our members
- Implementing and maintaining the daily schedule for water heating
- Supervising the conduct of water filtration maintenance, including backwashing the water for treatment, washing the tanks
- Examining the pumps for the water and pool systems
- Supervising pool maintenance, including cleaning and treatment schedules
(iii) Cleaning
- Managing cleaning items, through usage and restocking processes
- Managing the Cleaning Crew and ensuring the cleaning schedule is adhered to
- Ensuring the studio rooms are well-kitted, well ventilated and smell good at all times, especially before any session
(iv) Equipment Management
- Ensuring the studio equipment (bikes, benches, weights, etc) are properly cleaned and maintained
- Ensuring the Energy bar equipment (blender, refrigeration are properly cleaned and maintained
(v) Landscaping
- Overseeing landscaping and reporting any incidents
- Confidently managing conflicts in high-pressure situations, demonstrating a solution-oriented mindset, and ensuring standards are upheld in any circumstance
(vi) Building Maintenance
- Managing the fumigation process and schedule
- Conducting daily inspections of studio structures for repairs (internal and external)
- Managing service records for waste disposal and pick-up schedules (LAWMA)
- Conducting daily plumbing and drainage checks, including addressing shower plugs via cleaners
- Maintaining soakaway clearance schedules
(vii) Security
- Handling building security and liaising with security guards
- Ensuring the security team adhere to company policy
- Participating and assisting with training sessions led by the Operations Manager
(viii) Health and Safety
- Ensuring all fire procedures are in place and scheduling and conducting tests
- Managing and executing daily handy work, painting touch-ups, electrical tasks (including bulb replacements and lighting), and access control as needed
- Managing equipment and supplies upkeep to meet health and safety standards
(ix) Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
Ensuring the studio always smells nice and is well-ventilated
(x) Storage
- Overseeing infrastructure in the storeroom
- Ensuring inventory in storage is accounted for monthly
Requirements
- Holds a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facility management
- Possesses a strong personality, is hands-on, and resourceful
- Skilled in DIY tasks
- Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and best practices in facilities management
- Knowledgeable in electrical, building, water, and generator maintenance
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in computer applications, including facility management software, Google Sheets and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure
- Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies or urgent facility issues
- Certifications in facility management or related fields (e.g., Certified Facility Manager is a plus)
- The flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule – Must be flexible to work some weekends, holidays, early mornings, and/or late evenings (we are a hospitality business and may be busier during holidays)
Physical Requirements : – Physically fit, able to stand, bend, reach, and move around for long durations of time
Location Requirements : – Should live around the Island axis for easy commuting. For example, Lekki – before Ajah bus stop, VI, Lagos Island, Obalende
Working Hours :
- Mondays – Thursdays: 6:00 am – 2:00 pm (morning shift); 1:00 pm – 9:00 pm (afternoon shift)
- Fridays: 6.00 am to 2:00 pm
- Saturdays & Holiday Shift (when on duty): 7:00 am to 2:00 pm.
- The team will take turns for Friday & Saturday shifts, morning and afternoon shifts, etc).
- We are closed on Sundays
- Management will initiate a rotation schedule for peak holiday shifts, all employees are expected to be available to work when required.
- Please bear in mind that we are a hospitality business so holidays and Saturdays are our peak period.
