Senior Accountant(Gbagada)

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and provide strategic financial support. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and plays a key role in guiding the finance team and supporting organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

. Manage day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and reporting

. Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions

. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports

. Ensure accurate posting of transactions into the ERP/accounting system

. Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and provide variance analysis

. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, donor requirements, and internal policies

. Support external and internal audits, ensuring timely documentation and responses

. Supervise and mentor junior finance staff and interns

. Coordinate payroll preparation, tax calculations, and statutory remittances

. Support the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts

. Advise management on financial decisions and risk management

. Communicate with banks, vendors, partners, and field staff on financial matters

. Recommend improvements to financial processes and systems

Requirements:

. B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (ICAN/ACCA certification is a strong advantage)

. Minimum of 4–5 years experience in accounting or finance (NGO or nonprofit experience preferred)

. Strong understanding of Nigerian financial regulations and reporting standards

. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and accounting software

. Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills

. Strong communication and team leadership abilities

. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure

. High level of integrity and professionalism

Experience:

• Accountant: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• ICAN/ACCA (Preferred)
