Resident Internal Control Officer

Job Description:

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Internal Control Officer in Abuja (Suleja), Kaduna (Mogadishu, Kawo, Sabo ) to lead the internal control function in their designated Area.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with policies, identifying operational risks, and strengthening control measures to safeguard the company’s assets and integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of internal control activities in their assigned branch.
  • Conduct routine checks to ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in investigating identified irregularities and escalate findings with recommendations.
  • Review daily financial transactions, disbursements, and collections to detect risks or control gaps.
  • Collaborate with the team to strengthen the organization’s internal control and fraud prevention systems.
  • Educate and support branch staff on internal control procedures and compliance obligations.
  • Compile and submit reports on audit findings, risks, and operational inefficiencies to supervisors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in internal control, internal audit, or compliance in a financial institution.
  • Sound understanding of microfinance operations and internal control principles.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to lead a team, work independently, and handle confidential information.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to professional excellence.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₦50,000.00 – ₦60,000.00 per month
