Remote Linux Infrastructure Engineer (Healthcare Project)

Job Description:

Alpha Global is recruiting for a full-time Linux Infrastructure Engineer to support a long-term healthcare infrastructure project for one of our trusted European partners.

You will work remotely in close coordination with a distributed engineering team, helping maintain, secure, and optimize critical Linux-based systems operating in a hybrid cloud environment.

This role demands strong technical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work professionally in a fully remote setup.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Managing and optimizing Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) infrastructure
• Configuring, troubleshooting, and securing network layers
• Writing and maintaining Shell scripts and Python automation tools
• Managing services using systemd and other service managers
• Working with cloud environments, primarily AWS EC2 (VMware experience a bonus)
• Monitoring, diagnosing, and optimizing system and network performance
• Handling DNS servers, IP addressing (IPv4/IPv6), and routing tasks
• Implementing cloud security best practices (IAM roles, encryption, VPNs, KMS)
• Supporting bandwidth management and traffic shaping where needed
• Collaborating closely with international distributed teams

Must-Have Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working hands-on with Linux-based infrastructure
• Proficiency with Debian/Ubuntu distributions and strong Linux CLI usage
• Solid understanding of network configuration, troubleshooting, and security
• Experience with Shell scripting and intermediate Python programming
• Strong experience managing AWS EC2 instances (VMware experience nice to have)
• Familiarity with systemd and Linux service management
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for system optimization
• Experience configuring DNS servers and working with IPv4/IPv6 networking
• Practical experience implementing IAM, encryption, VPN, and KMS best practices

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Familiarity with serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, GCP Functions, Azure Functions)
• AWS Certified Security – Specialty or equivalent certification
• Linux system hardening and security compliance experience
• Exposure to monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch)

Remote Work Requirements

• Strong, stable, undisturbed internet connection (suitable for professional meetings)
• Reliable power backup solution (generator, inverter, or UPS)
• Professional-grade laptop (minimum 8 GB RAM, SSD preferred)
• Quiet, professional home office setup
• Full availability to work: 9:00AM to 5:00PM Nigerian Time

Offer

• Monthly salary: 800,000 – 1,000,000 NGN (depending on experience and fit)
