Job Description:
The Pipeline and Structural Designer will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and executing design projects for pipeline and structural systems within our fabrication environment. The role is centered on delivering efficient, safe, and innovative designs that align with engineering best practices and industry standards. Working closely with the engineering team and production department, you will contribute to both new project designs and modifications to existing structures, ensuring high-quality deliverables from concept to construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Drafting:
- Develop detailed pipeline and structural designs using advanced CAD software and specialized design programs.
- Create, modify, and review technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for fabrication and construction purposes.
- Technical Analysis:
- Conduct structural and stress analyses to ensure design integrity, safety, and compliance with industry and local regulatory standards.
- Evaluate design parameters and perform cost estimations for material selection and fabrication feasibility.
- Project Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with project managers, fabrication teams, and external consultants to integrate design requirements with production capabilities.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams to address design challenges and provide technical guidance during project execution.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all designs adhere to quality control procedures and relevant engineering codes.
- Participate in design reviews, audits, and inspections to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive design reports, calculations, and technical documentation for internal records and regulatory bodies.
- Update project files and maintain accurate documentation of design revisions.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in fabrication methods, material technologies, and design software tools.
- Recommend innovative solutions and improvements to enhance design efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Met. eng, or Structural Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree or specialized certification is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant work experience in pipeline design, structural design, or a similar engineering discipline, preferably in a fabrication or industrial setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and structural analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of pipeline design standards, structural dynamics, and material mechanics.
- Regulatory Knowledge:
- Familiarity with local and international standards, codes, and regulations relevant to pipeline and structural design.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to project management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent recognized certification.
- Experience in Fabrication:
- Prior exposure to the fabrication industry with a clear understanding of production processes and design integration in manufacturing environments.
- Project Management:
- Experience in managing design projects from conceptualization to execution, including cost analysis and time management.
