Job Description:

A Hotel Laundry Assistant is responsible for assisting with the laundry operations in a hotel, ensuring that linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry are cleaned, pressed, and maintained to the highest standards. This role involves operating laundry equipment, handling guest laundry requests, managing inventory, and ensuring the efficient and timely processing of all laundry-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laundry Operations:
  • Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment to clean hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and other items.
  • Sort laundry by type, color, and fabric to ensure that each item is washed according to its specific requirements.
  • Load and unload machines efficiently, adhering to proper weight limits for loads and detergent guidelines.
  • Ensure that all laundry is cleaned to the highest standard, following hotel policies for fabric care.
  • Ironing and Pressing:
  • Iron or steam press items like bed linens, towels, tablecloths, and uniforms to maintain a crisp and presentable appearance.
  • Handle delicate fabrics with care, ensuring items are properly pressed without damage.
  • Guest Laundry Services:
  • Assist with processing guest laundry requests, which may include washing, drying, folding, and pressing personal clothing.
  • Ensure that all guest laundry is returned in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Handle guest laundry with care and follow any specific instructions or special requests provided (e.g., delicate items, dry cleaning).
  • Inventory Management:
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and laundry supplies.
  • Assist in organizing and storing clean linen in appropriate locations.
  • Ensure that sufficient stock of linens and towels is available for hotel use and report any shortages or damages to the supervisor.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect linens, towels, and other items for stains, damage, or wear and tear before processing.
  • Identify and separate stained or damaged items for special treatment or repair, and report any significant damage or loss.
  • Ensure all laundry meets the hotel’s cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance of Laundry Area:
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laundry room, including cleaning laundry equipment regularly and keeping work surfaces tidy.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment or safety hazards to supervisors for repair.
  • Follow all safety protocols when handling laundry detergents, chemicals, and machinery.
  • Assist with Linen Pickup and Delivery:
  • Help collect dirty linens, towels, and other laundry items from guest rooms, public areas, and various departments within the hotel.
  • Assist in delivering clean linens and towels to guest rooms, restaurants, spas, or other hotel departments.
  • Customer Service:
  • Provide polite and friendly service when interacting with guests or colleagues, especially when handling special laundry requests.
  • Ensure that guest laundry requests are fulfilled promptly and accurately.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene guidelines while performing laundry duties.
  • Properly handle laundry chemicals and detergents, ensuring they are stored and used safely to avoid accidents or damage.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with housekeeping staff and other hotel departments to ensure the smooth and timely processing of laundry.
  • Assist colleagues in various tasks within the laundry and housekeeping departments as needed.
