Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Tracking, reporting, and analyzing budget variances
- Recognize income, expenses, assets, and liabilities and prepare International Financial Reporting Standards-compliant financial statements and all regulatory reporting requirements.
- Reviewing the company’s financial statements to ensure they are accurate
- Preparing month-end reports for management, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Recommending changes in policies or procedures that will improve financial performance
- Forecasting future financial performance
- Preparing and analyzing budgets
- Providing accurate financial reports to management
- Ensuring compliance with government regulations
- Ensure prompt payment of taxes to relevant authorities and maintain accurate tax schedules.
- Update and keep accurate asset registers and relevant schedules for CP and subsidiaries
- Interact with business unit line managers on financial outcomes, expense trends, etc
- Involvement in budget preparation and implementation
- Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations.
- Work with external auditors and actively participate in the year-end audit preparations and drafting of financial statements.
- Analysing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems and process enhancement
- Prepare timely and required returns to SEC, FIRS, LIRS, and other regulators
- Involvement in strategy sessions, business performance discussion sessions, and other sessions as required
Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience with at least 3 years of experience in an investment firm.
- ICAN Qualification will be an added advantage.
