Job Description:

The Pig Farm Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the pig farm, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of the livestock. This role requires hands-on management of feeding, breeding, housing, health programs, and overall farm biosecurity measures. The Supervisor will manage farm workers, maintain records, and ensure compliance with industry standards and animal welfare regulations.

Job Description

• Monitor the health and well-being of pigs across all production stages (breeding, farrowing, nursery, and finishing).
• Develop and implement herd health programs in consultation with veterinarians.
• Ensure proper feeding, watering, and environment management to maximize pig growth and welfare.
• Perform routine inspections, vaccinations, treatments, and health checks.
• Maintain accurate health, breeding, and production records.
• Supervise and train farm staff on best practices in pig handling, biosecurity, and farm operations.
• Assign daily duties and schedules to farm workers and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to standard.
• Foster a positive, safety-conscious, and productive work environment.
• Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, feedback, and discipline as needed.
• Oversee breeding programs including artificial insemination, farrowing management, and weaning schedules.
• Manage inventory levels for feed, veterinary supplies, and other farm essentials; coordinate timely reordering.
• Operate and maintain farm equipment and ensure facilities are kept clean, safe, and fully operational.
• Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
• Ensure operations are compliant with animal welfare, environmental, and occupational safety regulations.
• Maintain detailed records and generate regular reports on pig production, mortality, feed usage, and health treatments.
• Liaise with veterinarians, suppliers, auditors, and regulatory bodies when required.

Qualifications:

• OND/HND/Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, or a related field.
• Knowledge of PIG FARM operations is VERY IMPORTANT.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage staff effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions quickly.
