Job Description:

The Hotel Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes to the highest standards of quality and presentation. This role involves working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, collaborating with other kitchen staff, and ensuring that all meals are prepared in a timely manner. The Hotel Cook must adhere to health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Food Preparation and Cooking:

– Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the menu specifications and guest preferences.

– Ensure all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and quality standards.

– Assist in the development of new menu items and recipes.

2. Quality Control:

– Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest standards.

– Monitor food quality and freshness, making adjustments as necessary.

– Taste and evaluate dishes to ensure flavor and presentation meet standards.

3. Kitchen Operations:

– Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times.

– Follow all kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines.

– Manage inventory and stock levels, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and available.

– Assist with ordering and receiving deliveries of food supplies.

4. Team Collaboration:

– Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members.

– Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff.

– Communicate effectively with the Head Chef and other team members regarding any issues or needs.

5. Health and Safety Compliance:

– Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.

– Ensure proper storage and labeling of food items.

– Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all safety protocols.

6. Customer Service:

– Address and resolve any guest complaints or concerns regarding food quality.

– Provide exceptional dining experiences by ensuring all dishes meet guest expectations.

Qualifications:

– Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role.

– Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.

– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

– Strong attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality dishes.

– Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

– Culinary school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

– Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

– Ability to stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.

– Capability to lift and carry heavy items, such as pots, pans, and food supplies.

Working Conditions

– Work in a high-pressure kitchen environment.

– Exposure to heat, steam, and potentially hazardous kitchen equipment.

– Fast-paced and dynamic work setting with a focus on meeting guest expectations and maintaining high standards.

Pay: ₦30,000.00 – ₦35,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Otukpa: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

  • Post-secondary (technical & vocational) (Preferred)
