Job description: The radiographer is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations, such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and other imaging procedures. The radiographer ensures high-quality images while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. This role requires a strong understanding of radiographic techniques, equipment operation, and patient care

Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging examinations, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, mammography, and ultrasound, as ordered by physicians.
  • Ensure images are of high quality and accurately capture the areas of interest for diagnosis.
  • Position patients correctly to obtain the required views while minimizing discomfort and exposure to radiation.
  • Explain procedures to patients and answer any questions to alleviate concerns and ensure understanding.
  • Provide appropriate instructions for preparation and follow-up care.
  • Monitor patients during imaging procedures to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Operate radiographic and imaging equipment according to established protocols and safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and guidelines to protect patients, staff, and self from unnecessary exposure.
  • Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
  • Accurately document patient information, imaging procedures, and results in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Assist radiologists in interpreting and reviewing images when necessary.
  • Prepare reports and summaries of imaging findings as required.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiology
  • Certification and registration
  • Proven experience (1 – 3 years) as a radiographer in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic techniques, imaging equipment, and radiation safety.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
