Key Responsibilities:
– Curatorial Management:
– Plan, organize, and execute a photo film exhibition, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience for attendees.
– Select and curate photographs and other art pieces that align with the theme of the exhibition.
– Develop and implement creative concepts to enhance the visual and sensory experience of the exhibition.
– Space Design and Setup:
– Design the exhibition space, ensuring optimal use of the large area available.
– Work with set builders and designers to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional layout.
– Incorporate elements like scents and lighting to enhance the overall ambiance of the exhibition.
– Collaboration and Networking:
– Build and maintain relationships with artists, photographers, and other stakeholders in the art community.
– Coordinate with legal professionals to ensure all necessary paperwork and legalities are handled properly.
– Engage with professionals who can contribute to the exhibition’s design and setup.
– Financial Management:
– Develop a budget for the exhibition and manage expenses to ensure a positive return on investment.
– Work with sponsors and partners to secure funding and other resources.
– Track and report on financial performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
– Proven experience in curating exhibitions, particularly in the field of photography and film.
– Strong understanding of the art scene in Nigeria, with a focus on film photography.
– Excellent organizational and project management skills.
– Creative vision and the ability to implement innovative ideas.
– Knowledge of legal requirements related to art exhibitions and the ability to liaise with legal professionals.
– Ability to manage budgets and ensure a positive financial outcome for the exhibition.
Desired Experience:
– Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in exhibition curation or a related field.
– Previous experience working with film photographers and organizing photography exhibitions.
– Strong network within the art and photography community in Nigeria.
– Experience in designing and setting up large exhibition spaces.
