Job description:
The Logistics Manager will be responsible for managing the logistics and supply chain functions to ensure seamless flow of materials, parts, and finished vehicles from suppliers to production facilities and from production to customers or distribution centers. This role includes inventory management, optimizing transportation, and coordinating with multiple departments to meet production schedules and customer delivery timelines while minimizing costs and delays.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain and Inventory Management:
Manage and coordinate the inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring a steady supply of materials and components to meet production requirements.
Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished products to avoid shortages or overstock situations.
Logistics Planning and Optimization:
Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and improve delivery times.
Plan and schedule deliveries to ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery of products to customers and distribution centers.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination:
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of parts and materials according to production schedules.
Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee supplier performance to maintain high standards and minimize disruptions.
Warehouse and Distribution Management:
Oversee warehouse operations to ensure efficient storage, handling, and dispatch of materials and vehicles.
Implement best practices for warehouse organization, picking, packing, and inventory control to streamline operations.
Transportation and Fleet Management:
Manage and optimize transportation networks, selecting carriers and coordinating inbound and outbound shipments.
Ensure compliance with all regulations for transportation and delivery, and monitor performance of fleet operations if applicable.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Prepare and manage the logistics budget, controlling transportation, warehousing, and material handling costs.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency improvements to optimize logistics expenditures.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Use data-driven methods to analyze key logistics metrics (e.g., delivery times, cost per unit, transit times) and generate reports on logistics performance.
Provide regular updates and insights to senior management on logistics performance, inventory levels, and cost-saving initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with production, procurement, quality, and sales teams to ensure alignment between logistics operations and business objectives.
Act as a liaison between departments to proactively address logistical challenges and support overall production goals.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, preferably within the automobile or manufacturing industry, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in logistics software (e.g., SAP, ERP systems), and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.

Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, facility management, or a similar field.
A minimum of 5 years experience in Logistics, Warehousing, and supply chain.
Previous managerial experience is a bonus.
Good understanding of the technical features of Logistics and warehousing systems.
Strong knowledge in Excel.
Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary
N300,000 – N400,000 monthly.
